Hello…

I hand-create glass art inspired by my expeditions to remote wild nature using glass and unexpected techniques.

I am passionate about being in extreme wildernesses - especially oceans and ocean life, mountains and ice.  I am fortunate to have sailed, dived, kayaked and swam with majestic whales and sharks in remote locations including Antarctica, the Arctic and the Galapagos.

These big expanses give me a sense of adventure and exhilaration and being there is a real privilege. Vast, rugged landscapes make me feel very small but connected with this world. I am concerned about their fragile future and want to raise awareness so others care and protect them too.

Glassblowing is the hardest thing I have ever done! It’s challenging, expensive, addictive and satisfying. My making process can be dramatic and is part of my overall enjoyment. I enjoy combining my adventure travel and glass making passions to create beauty.

BBC Make It at Market - prime-time viewing! Series 1 Episode 9

I feature in a brand new BBC TV programme called “Make It at Market” hosted by Dom Chinea of BBC’s “The Repair Shop” which has been transformational for me.

On Friday 24th November I hit the heady heights of prime-time TV with a repeat at 7.30pm on BBC1!!

The programme helps aspiring artists and hobbyists from a range of different crafts to see if they can - and want to - make a living out of their hobbies with guidance from mentors in their respective crafts.

The series is 15 episodes, each featuring two artists, and first released in January 2023 on BBC1 and BBC2 with subsequent repeats on both channels through the year as well as being available on iPlayer and released around the world on BritBox. My episode is Series 1, Episode 9.

This Friday’s episode is a shorter 30 minute edition. I’m not sure how it will be edited but it was hard enough to fit months’ of filming into the 45 minute version!

Watch it with me! More details here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001spd3

iPlayer 45 minute link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001h0vg/make-it-at-market-series-1-episode-9

Britbox link: https://watch.britbox.co.uk/ - requires sign in. Available in USA, Canada, Australia, Scandinavia and most of Africa. Originally screened 7 February 2023.

You will be thrilled to know that Series 2 will be aired from Monday 27th November 2023!

One of my Surf Vases used as the backdrop to the second Make It At Market reunion at Stourbridge on 20th January 2024

Make It At Market 2nd Reunion

I will be at the 2nd “Make It At Market” glass blower reunion on Saturday 20th January 2024 at Stourbridge Museum of Glass 10:30am - 4:30pm.

The event features all 4 glass blowers from series 1 and selected artists and mentors from series 2.
I will give a live demonstration between 12pm - 1pm and I will be available for ‘meet the artist’ throughout the day.

I will bring pieces to sell as well as sell the pieces I make in my demo - you could own something you saw being made!

It’s a full day of artists, demonstrations, presentations, buying opportunities, meeting artists, 2 book launches and generally being immersed in fabulous glass within the excellent Stourbridge Museum of Glass which also houses one of my biggest Dancing Wave sculptures.

“Ice & Fire” Presentation to CGS

Due to the amazing success following my appearance on BBC TV Make It at Market, orders will take approximately 8-12 weeks. If you have a request or a specific date requirement, e.g. for a special event, please contact me to let me know and I will aim to accommodate this.

Using glass to capture impressive details from my encounters in remote, pristine locations, my art aims to raise awareness of the environment, wilderness and the fragility of nature.
